Mon: Notes on Unit #2: From Generation to Generation -- homework: Character chart about a character from a book, movie, TV show, etc. Show their character traits (3), an example of that trait from the book, movie, etc, and whether you learned it through narration, description or dialogue.
Tue: Notes about John Cheever -- Start reading "The Opportunity" pg 87 -- homework: NONE
Wed: finish "The Opportunity" -- discuss-- homework: #6 on page 101 in the form of a short essay.
Thur: Notes on Alice Walker == Read "Everyday Use" on page 103-- homework: 2 words that contain the suffix -ology and their definitions
Fri: Activity with story (make your own quilt square) -- Vocab day homework: NONE

Week of 8/24/09

Monday: Read "The Pedestrian" on page 57, brainstorming for paper about a life experience (good or bad), one page in length, due Wednesday
Tuesday: In the computer lab typing papers that are due on Wednesday
Wednesday: ***Paper about a life experience due today at 4pm*** Play Jeopardy style review game for test
Thursday: Test over literature unit #1
Friday: Vocabulary list 1 test, new root of the day

Week of 8/17/09

Monday: Notes in class over Unit 1-- plot diagram activity (diagram a movie), no homework
Tuesday: Notes on author, read "The Colomber," discuss -- homework: write about what you think the Colomber was (good or bad). Write either a short essay, or a new ending to the story
Wednesday: discuss/share homework, plot diagram the story -- discuss, questiosn 1-7 on page 13 (Due at the end of class) -- homework: none
Thursday: Note on author, read "Contents of a Dead Man's Pockets," discuss root of the week Homework: have two words that contain -vert and their definitions MUST HAVE WHEN YOU COME TO CLASS!!!
Friday: suspense activity, ROTW (root of the week) -- vote on words, quiz next Friday-- homework: none
